It seems there are many forums out there for specific types of ; forums, forums, forums, , but what about all those people who like from a variety of different genres?  Shouldn’t it be possible to chat about all genres in a single place?

For example, most “rockers” I know also like some hip-hop, or … most “electronica fans” that I’ve met also like a bit of classical or a few albums…. in fact, most people like at least some from outside their “safety zone”.

Well, this is the place for people to swap recommendations, make new discoveries, find they otherwise might never hear and share their tastes with others.

The Real has been set up for those that want to find the best the world has to offer – has ever had to offer – regardless of genre.

If it’s good , tell us about it - tell the WORLD about it in our forums

A Journey Of Discovery

What is the RMF?

Why am I doing this?

Essentially, life is short and while I’m alive I want to experience the best that the world has to offer, nay, has ever had to offer.

Old or new, from the stiffly traditional to the most mind-bendingly contemporary, if it’s good, I want to hear it.

“What do you mean, ‘good’? Surely musical taste is subjective?” I hear you say. Well, yes, while it is true that we all have different preferences for what we might want to listen to at any particular moment, along my musical travels I have discovered to my great joy that good transcends genre. I’ve seen ‘metallers’ enjoying certain electronic , technoheads who own a few CDs, and even the most brainwashed of chart-worshipping sheep has been known to have come into possession of “a really cool old ” by accident, only for it to become their favourite .

This is the cream that I seek. Not necessarily that has no mass appeal, but not necessarily not that has no mass appeal either. If you get my drift.

Good has something that makes it good. That “something” could be almost anything, from the most obviously superb vocal performance to the smallest subtle hi-hat fill that appears only once in the track. It could be that the song has been wonderfully produced or that it has some kind of historical value, or that there is a story that adds to the big picture.

Essentially, as far as is concerned, I’m an Info Freako. There is no end to what I wanna know. And in true Jesus Jones style, zeroes and ones will take us there.

I want to know why a particular recording of an oft-performed standard from the 50s was so important to the genre.

I want to know which albums were considered revolutionary and understand them in the context of the other that was around at the time.

I want to know how subgenres were spawned, how politics and social trends have affected the of a particular time.

What I want most of all is to develop a community at the RMF for like-minded -lovers everywhere. A place where ideas, recommendations and opinions can be exchanged. A place for record collectors, enthusiasts, teachers and students, veterans and rookies alike.

Every community needs people, and we’re no different so get yourself signed up in the and get posting!

Great things come from humble beginnings.

Thanks for reading.

Best regards,

Muso.
