Hallelujah

Christmas is here again, and with it comes the usual torrent of music to make you cringe.
The latest outchurnings of the festering pop factory are those selected by the devil, Simon Cowell, and his evil hordes, to butcher one of the almost hidden gems of the music world, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah.
Thankfully, the reaction to such sacrilege has been the release of two older versions of the song.
Firstly, Cohen’s own version, and secondly, the “definitive” version by the late, great Jeff Buckley (itself actually inspired by John Cale’s earlier cover version of the song).
Here’s the Buckley version in all its glory…
Hallelujah to that.
