I had to join this forum to discuss something that has been bothering me for quite some time that every just seems to ignore. So is it just me, or has Live gotten really really bad?
Mental Jewelry is actually one of the greatest albums of all time in my opinion. The bass lines are so intricate, and the music is so well fashioned. Songs for Black Mountain however (Live's newest album) is actually so of the worst music I have ever listened to. Live started getting pretty bad right around 2000, and I feel like there are quite a few bands that follow this trend. Really good at first, and then they turn into pure shit.
Nickelback is a really awful band. They destroy the human society and are detrimental to the advancement of music. However, even THEIR first album wasn't that bad. And I'm not talking about the one with "How You Remind Me". Nickelback has a first album that nobody knows about and it's called Curb (1996). It's really similar sounding to Bush, and has an O.K. alt rock feel to it. It's not something I'd listen to or be excited about, but it's not THAT bad. And then all of sudden, BANG, instant shit.
So what is happening to music, and what is happening to good bands? Can somebody please help me figure this out. Also, if you know some other bands that have taken the path of darkness, let's hear em'.
