I've realised that there's loads of great bands out there that don't fall into our regular categories here...

Crossover bands mostly, I guess...

List them here ;-)

Senser (hip-hop with bits of metal)
Sisters Of Mercy (one of the original "Goth" bands... rock / electronic beats / opera-style backing singers)
Hocus Pocus (funk - hip-hop)
St Germain (jazz - electronica)

Bring 'em on...

8)

I saw PWEI live a few years ago on their reformation tour.

Superb gig. ...and a great band from my teens that have always remained close to my heart.

I live on the wrong side of the world and was born too late for a lot of the artists I like and would have wanted to see live.

Ah! :-) New Zealand is it?

Yeah, presumably only the biggest European / American bands tour down there, do they?

Ah well, you've still got Dave Dobbyn. :-)

Yep and born in 77, so that means Hendrix was dead, Zeppelin had almost split up, Queen toured when I was 8 for example.

Dave Dobbyn is a very cool entertainer, great to watch and listen to. We also have the Finn brothers, Tim and Neil(also Neil's son Liam is making waves too).

:D 1975 for me.

I've only heard a few of Dave Dobbyn's songs but I've liked what I've heard. We had an advert on TV for holidays in New Zealand and there was some band doing a song called "Waiting", so I looked into it and found out it had been written by Dave Dobbyn so I downloaded a few of his songs.

I'll check out The Finn Brothers too. :)

From the Finns you may have heard of Crowded House and Split Enz, they also have solo stuff and were prety big in the UK at one point.

OOOOH, yes, suddenly everything becomes clear!

Yes, I've heard some Crowded House. I knew their name sounded familiar!

Yeah very solid pop rock, Neil Finn is a great songwriter, and they put on a good live show too.

TV on the Radio - Their music is difficult to classify and is often described as experimental rock or post-punk. But their music spans through numerous diverse genres, including freeform jazz and a cappella music, psychedelia and trip-hop,
modern soul and classic rock.
